Career as an Administrator

The candidates who are preparing for the various examinations conducted by the UPSC, LIC, IBPS and SSC have a great chance to see themselves as an Administrator. While, this post requires very hard labour and needed high marks along with some good luck and some skills. The main role of an administrator is to provide administrative support and services and ensuring that an office or specific department runs smoothly and efficiently.

Role of the Administrator

The exact responsibilities will vary based on the various departments of the Jobs.

But, when we talk about the role of an IAS, we can say that the IAS officers hold key and strategic positions in the Union Government, States and public-sector undertakings. They are responsible for to handle the daily affairs of the government, which includes the framing and implementation of policy in consultation with the minister-in-charge of the concerned ministry. They are also responsible to take part in the process of policy formulation and decision making. Officers at various levels like joint secretary, deputy secretary and other such high levels make their contributions in the formulation of Policies. However, it must be noted that most of the IAS officers start their careers in the state administration at the sub-divisional level just in the form of ‘Sub divisional magistrate’.

IPS, is just another among the three All India Services of the Government of India. They are required to serve the various duties in the form of border responsibilities and in the areas of maintenance of public peace and order. They also deal with the crime prevention, investigation, and detection, collection of intelligence, Security of various VIPs, Counter-Terrorism, Border Policing, and Railway Policing. The IPS also deals with the Tackling of smuggling, drug trafficking, economic offences, corruption in public life, disaster management, enforcement of socio-economic legislation and many other related issues.

IFS, or the Indian Foreign Service officers deals with the service to conduct diplomacy and manage foreign relations of the country. They are responsible to protect India’s national interests in the country of their posting. Many other such functions are to be followed by them.

IRS or the Indian Revenue Service Officers are responsible with the collection and administration of the various direct and indirect taxes for the Union Government. They are popularly known as the Guardians of the Economic Frontiers. They are even included in law enforcement and intelligence organizations like the RAW, CBI and IB and many more such organizations.

Through the SSC CGL Exams, there are posts too which are of higher significance. These posts include the Post of Central Excise Inspector, Sub Inspector in CBI and Assistant in MEA & Assistant (Cypher) in MEA etc. The Central Excise Inspector is an inspector post. When, posted in Headquarter than the officer has to do Clerical or file related work. However, in the field ,the officer have to do Executive work like augmentation of central excise & Service tax etc, detection of evasion of taxes etc. Wearing the uniform or Khaki is optional.

The SI in CBI is supposed to be a very powerful and influential post due to very nature of work.

When we talk about the Higher Posts in Banks, the PO, Specialist Officers and Manager and Assistant Officers are the top level posts. The PO Posts and Specialist Officers are recruited through IBPS Exams while the Managerial Posts is filled through the Departmental Promotions. However, the candidates holding the MBA Degree and having 3 to 5 years of experience can be recruited by the Banks in some conditions.

Payment Structure of these Administrators

IAS at the Cabinet Secretary Grade gets the Pay Scale of around Rs. 90000. While the Chief Secretary of States, Union Secretaries in charge of various ministries of the Government of India gets the fixed salary of around Rs. 80000.

IPS officers, who are recruited as Assistant Commissioner of Police, have the pay structure in the form of Rs. 15,600-Rs. 39,100 plus grade pay of Rs. 5400.

IFS Officers, with all the allowances and perks withdraws the first salary of around Rs. 60, 000, if they are posted in India. However, if new IFS officers are posted at the Indian Embassy in the USA, then they are entitled to get at least 2.40 Lakhs per month as Special Foreign Allowance.
In the IRS Profile, the starting salary of higher grade officer is in the range of Rs 12,000-15,000 a month at the junior most level. In addition to this, they can enjoy several other allowances like health care, housing, dearness allowance, LTA, retirement benefits etc.

The Central Excise Inspectors have the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,600 and are guaranteed a timely Promotion.

The SI in CBI is a post in the pay band 9,300-34,800 with grade pay of RS 4,200. However, it is almost equal to the total salary for the grade pay of Rs 4,600 as CBI executive staff is entitled to additional 25% on BASIC PAY + DA and in addition to that salary of 13 months instead of 12 months each year.

The PO gets a salary of more than Rs. 30000 at the initial stage and is provided with huge benefits. The salary of the Specialist officers is almost same as that of Probationary Officers.

Educational Eligibility Criteria for these Administrators

For Position of IAS Officers, IPS Officer, IFS Officers and IRS Officers Candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university or a deemed university. Even the candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree and awaiting result can also apply.

For all the above Posts in SSC CGL, the Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent is sufficient for a candidate to fight for the Posts.

For the recruitment as PO, the candidates need to have the Graduation degree which allows them to appear in the IBPS Examination. While the Specialist officers are required to have Specialization in their field and some experience.
