Educational Eligibility Criteria of various exams conducted by LIC

The LIC conducts three different examinations during the various times of the year to ensure the consistent inflow of the deserving candidates into their sector and organization. These three exams are meant for different posts and are conducted at various time periods and with different eligibility criteria. Here, in this article, we are going to discuss about the educational Eligibility criteria for those exams which are conducted by the LIC in the country.

The exams are as follows:

1. IRDA Exam-

The exam, which is being held to hire the candidates as LIC Agents is known as IRDA Exam and a candidate should pass the IRDA Exam to get themselves into the Organization as LIC Agents. According to the Regulation 4 of the IRDA (licensing of Insurance Agents) Regulations, 2000, the candidates should be at least 12th Pass or an Intermediate for the urban areas in order to be eligible to appear in the exams. Talking about the Rural Areas, the candidates should be at least 10th pass or board from a recognized institution or board. This exam also requires the Candidates to attend practical sessions also in order to be qualified. The requirement of One hundred and fifty hours of practical education in life and general insurance from any approved institution is a must to get the eligibility Condition fulfilled.

2. LIC ADO Exam-

For the eligibility criteria related to the ADO Exam, there is a classification of different categories based on which, the minimum criteria is being sorted out.

a. For Employees category and Agents category-

The candidates should have the Bachelors Degree from any recognized University in India established under a statute or a foreign university approved to fulfil the purpose or the Fellowship of Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai.

b. For other Category-

The candidates should have the Bachelors Degree from any recognized University in India established under a statute or a foreign university approved to fulfil the purpose or the Fellowship of Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai.

Note: However, the candidates having a higher degree like Masters Degree in Business Administration or Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from a recognized board or Institute will be higher preffered.
In case of LIC Employees, the Work Experience of not less than 3 years of service after confirmation in Class 3 post is required.

3. LIC AAO Exam-

To be applicable into the LIC AAO Exam, i.e. the Assistant Administrative Officers exams, the candidates should have the Bachelors Degree from the recognized University. The candidates can also have the Masters degree from the recognized Institution of India. The minimum percentage required is around 55 which are for the general category candidates. While for the SC/ST, the minimum Percentage is around 45, to be eligible to apply for the posts of the Generalists AAO. This exam also covers the Chartered Accountant Posts, for which the candidates should be an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India.

LIC, which is the country’s largest life Insurance Company, has around 2048 branches and around 109 divisional offices. The LIC provides the candidates huge chances to join them at various levels. In fact, the procedure of LIC Exams is such that the candidates, who are really interested in joining the LIC, are given the maximum chance and guidance to join them. Any candidate who wishes to join the LIS as LIC agent can in fact go to the nearest Branch office and can meet the development Officer and can get the guidance as accordingly.

There may also be a chance that they will be called for the Interview, by the Branch Manager and in case the candidate is found suitable, the candidate will be sent to the Training and Development Center. The training which is of around 100 hours ensures that the candidate gets all the required skills and cover all the aspects of the Life Insurance Business. The LIC is very flexible in their process and aims to get more candidates into their firm who can get the process of the Company. The qualities like Self Motivation, a better Communicator and a graduate degree is only the requirements which the LIC looks for in the suitable candidate.
