Inspire SHE Scholarships

The Inspire

The inspire scholarship offers nearly 10000 scholarships each year. The Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science Technology is the body which undertakes the complete inspire scholarship program. The candidates eligible to apply for the same must be pursuing the degree in bachelors and masters level in Natural and Basic Sciences.

Application Notification of Inspire

Seeing the last year’s trends, the Filling up of the application form will begin from 1at August, 2015 and end on 31st October, 2015 as seen in the previous year.

Eligibility Criteria for Inspire

The eligibility criteria for the candidates to appear for the Inspire Program are as follows:
The candidates should have completed 12th class from any recognized board of India.
The candidate must be pursuing three years B.Sc., B.Sc. Hons, four years B.S and five years integrated M.Sc., M.S programs in any UGC recognized College, University or Institutions in India in natural/basic sciences.
The candidates who are among the top 1% in Class 12 at their respective Board Examinations and are pursuing courses in Natural and Basic sciences at the B.Sc. or any other Integrated M.Sc. levels, are eligible to apply for the same.
The Candidates are even not allowed to avail two or more than two scholarships simultaneously.
Some more Eligibility Details in case of above mentioned are not fulfilled, the candidates having these eligibility are able to apply for the same:

National Competitive Exams:

The Candidates, who have secured in the Joint Entrance Examination of the below mentioned exams and at the same time, have also opted to pursue Natural and Basic sciences in any institute or university for graduation and post-graduation degree are eligible to apply for the Inspire scholarships.
1. JEE Main Result 2014
2. JEE Advanced and secured top 10,000 ranks
3. JEE Main and secured top 10,000 ranks
4. AIPMT and secured top 10,000 ranks
Students admitted to Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, National Institute of Science Education and Research, Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Basic Sciences at the University of Mumbai are also eligible to apply for the same.
The All Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search scholars, National Talent Search Examination and Science Olympiad Medalists, who opt to undertake courses in the Natural & Basic sciences leading to B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees are also eligible to apply for Inspire Scholarships.

Inspire Scholarships amount

This scheme offers 10,000 scholarships of Rs. 80000 every year to each candidate for undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in the Natural & Basic sciences.

Components of Inspire Programme

There are 3 components of the Inspire Programme, which can be described as follows:

1. Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS):

This scheme aims to attract and motivate talented youth to study science by providing them with the INSPIRE Award of Rs 5000 to 10 lacs candidates belonging to the age group 10-15 years. They must be from 6th Class to 10th Class. Under this scheme, the arrangement of summer camps for about 50,000 science students of 11th Class in order to experience the joy of innovations is done on annual basis.

2. Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE):

The Scheme aims to enhance rates of attachment of talented youth to undertake higher education in science intensive programmes, by providing scholarships. Under this scheme, the offers of 10,000 Scholarships every year at Rs. 80000 per year for the talented youth in the age group 17-22 years for undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in natural sciences. 3. Assured Opportunity for Research Careers schemes

aims to attract, attach, retain and nourish talented young scientific Human Resource for strengthening the R and D foundation and base. There are two types of schemes available; In the first scheme, which is INSPIRE Fellowship, age group of candidates from 22-27 years is preferred, it offers around 1000 fellowships every year, for carrying out doctoral degree in both basic and applied sciences including engineering and medicine. In the second component i.e. INSPIRE Faculty Scheme, it offers assured opportunity every year for 1000 post- doctoral researchers in the age group of 27-32 years, through contractual and tenure track positions for 5 years in both basic and applied sciences area.
