JEE Main 2015 exam
The Joint Entrance Examination Main 2015 (JEE Main 2015) is an all India entrance exam which will be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It is a single gateway for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in Central Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) such as National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Self-Financed Technical Institutions (SFTIs), institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions for courses B.E./B.Tech. and B. Arch./B. Planning. Also, many private engineering colleges across India have also set their admission criteria based on JEE Main 2015 ranks.
The JEE Main 2015 is also the first step in the two tier examination for admission into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The second and final step for IITs is the JEE Advanced 2015. The basic criteria for the second step is that the candidate should be one among the top 1.5 lakh (general) and in top 20 percentile in Qualifying Board to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2015. The list of qualified candidates who come in this category for JEE Advanced 2015 will be declared on JEE Main website. Hence a candidate willing to take JEE Advanced 2015 has to clear JEE Main 2015 with high scores as an initial step.
Listed below is the Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main 2015
1. Pass Percentage in Class XII/Qualifying Exam
The candidate must compulsorily have studies Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and must have any one of these as optional subjects – Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology and Bio-technology. Candidates must have secured a minimum 50% marks in total in PCM.
2. Passing Year of XII/Qualifying Examination
The eligibility for JEE Main 2015 will also be defined as per the year in which the candidate first appeared for Class XII exam. The candidate must have qualified their Class XII or any equivalent qualifying examination in the year 2013 or 2014; or those who are appearing in their class XII examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2015 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2015. The candidates who had appeared for Class XII exam in 2012 or before and did not clear the test, but qualified in 2013 are also NOT eligible. The candidates who appeared in class XII/equivalent qualifying examinations in 2012, did not pass in 2012, but passed in 2013 are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE Main 2015. The candidate must have studied a minimum of five subjects in Class XII/qualifying examination. The candidates who have studied just four subjects will NOT be eligible for JEE Main 2015.
3. Number of Attempts allowed
Along with other eligibility criteria, the maximum number of attempts per student targeting JEE Main 2015 is limited to three.
4. Date of Birth
General category candidates must be born on or after October 1, 1989 to be eligible for JEE Main 2015. SC/ST/PwD candidates must be born on or after October 1, 1984. Only the date of birth (DOB) recorded in Class X Certificate will be considered.
