LIC ADO Exam
LIC ADO Exam is the entrance test for the candidates to enter into the LIC as Assistant Development Officers. This is the job which is related to the Sales and Marketing of the various products and Schemes of the LIC. LIC has 8 different zones and the notifications of the jobs thus appear zone wise.
Notification of the Examination
The notification of the Exams comes in the month of July and can be found in Employment News and other such Media. The last date of the application is generally the end of the month of August. However, the date of the notifications of this examination keeps on varying at consistent basis and thus the candidates should keep an eye on the notifications on the website on a regular basis. As this year, the notifications appeared in the month of March and last date was April first week.
Conduct of the Examination
The Examination date even varies based on the notification dates. This year saw the examinations being held in the month of May. The examination is conducted online.
The Candidates should be at least 21 years of age and at maximum 30 years to be eligible to apply the form. The age relaxation to the various communities happens as per the rules prescribed by the Government. Regarding Educational Eligibility, the candidates are categorized based on different categories.
a. For Common Candidates Category-
The candidates should possess the Bachelors Degree from any recognized University in India. However, Preference will be given to those having completed a Degree or Diploma in Marketing.
b. For the Employees and Agents Category-
The Candidates established under the statute or a foreign university approved to fulfill the purpose or the Fellowship of Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai.
Note: However, LIC Agents and LIC Employees having 2 years of Experience in Insurance Selling field will be given preference. However, the candidates having a higher degree like Masters Degree in Business Administration or Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from a recognized board or Institute will be higher preferred.
Syllabus of the Examination
The Examination covers the questions from various Subjects like Reasoning, Numerical Ability, English Language, Computer and General Awareness. Reasoning and Numerical Ability include 30 questions each having the weight age of 90 marks each. The General Awareness covers 30 marks each having a total of 60 marks. The Computer portion during the examination covers 30 questions with the total marks of 60. At last, English Language contains 40 questions and has the weight age of 100 marks in the examination. The Numerical Ability includes the topics like Number System, HCF, LCM, Simplification, Decimal Fractions, Ratio and Proportions, Unitary Method, Percentage, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Profit and Loss, Average, Simple and Compound Interest, Mensuration-2D and 3 D, Algebra, Data Interpretation. While General Awareness and Current Affairs include History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity and Scientific Research. The Computer Knowledge includes knowledge related to the introduction of computers, hardware, software, input devices, and output devices, etc. At last, English Language includes comprehension, parts of speech, tense, etc.
The maximum marks in the examination are 400. The total number of questions which the candidates have to go through while in the examination is 160.
Roles and Duties of ADO
The ADOs (Assistant Development Officers) are responsible for the conduct of the following roles and duties:
• The recruitment of LIC Agents to conduct the process of selling the policies and products to the consumers.
• The supervision of the working of these LIC Agents and carrying out the operations in an effective way.
• The imparting of the training programs to these LIC Agents.
• The frequent travelling within the area imparted to the ADOs and maintaining the working of the territory in the best possible way.
Selection of the Candidates
The selection of the Candidates as ADOs is made on the basis of the Written Examination and in case Interview in also conducted.
Salary and Reimbursements of the ADOs
Salary offered by LIC for these Assistant Administrative Officers is in the pay-scale of Rs. 17240-840(14)-29000-910(4)-32640 and other admissible allowances as per rules. The Total emoluments will be approximately Rs. 36,805 per month in a Metro city like Mumbai.
The LIC ADOs are one of the good entry posts in the LIC and is a good paying job. However, such is the nature of the job that it requires some high efforts and sharp minds and even handling and management skills.
