Educational Eligibility Criteria of various exams conducted by UPSC
In the past article, we discussed about various exams which were being conducted by UPSC. We discussed its notifications and the date of the conduct of examinations. In this article, we are going to discuss about the eligibility criteria of those exams which are surely going to help you in deciding which exams to prepare for.
1. Civil Services Examination-
Discussing about the eligibility criteria of this exam, which is considered as one of the highest posts in the country to serve the country, we can say that the candidate should be a minimum graduate or have pursued any degree from any recognized university in India. Even the final year students can apply for the posts.
2. Indian Forest Services Examination-
A person should be holding a degree with at least one of the subjects like Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Geology, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology and Statistics. Even the candidate holding a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering from any universities incorporated by the act of Central or state legislature in India or other educational Institutions established by the act of Parliament or deemed University declared under the section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 can also apply for the same.
3. Indian Engineering Services Exam-
The candidate holding the bachelor degree in Engineering i.e. B.E. or B. Tech from any recognized university can apply for the posts of Indian Engineering Services. The candidates holding the M Sc. Degree or equivalent are also eligible to appear for the same. All appearing candidates can even apply for the same.
4. Geologist Examination-
When we talk about this examination, the mastersdegree in Geology/Applied Geology or Marine Geology from any recognized university will do good to appear for the examination. The candidates holding the diploma of the associate ship in Applied Geology of ISM or the candidates with the master’s degree in Mineral Exploration from any recognized University can also appear for the posts. For the posts of CGWB, The candidates holding the master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized university can appear in the examination. All appearing candidates can also apply for the same.
5. SCRA or the Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam-
The candidates must have passed in the 1st division or in the 2nd division in the intermediate or any other examination equivalent to it. The board or the examination should be approved by the government of India and should be having Mathematics as a compulsory subject along with one of the subjects among Physics and Chemistry.
6. Combined Defence Services-
Candidates holding Degree of a recognized University and equivalent are eligible to apply for IMA and OTA. While for the entry into the Naval Academy, B Sc. with Physics and Mathematics or the Bachelor of Engg is the requisition. Regarding entry into the Air Force Academy, the candidates having the B Sc. with Physics and/or Mathematics are eligible. Even the candidates holding a Bachelor of Engg are also eligible to apply for the same. All appearing candidates are also eligible to apply for the above mentioned posts with the same qualifications as mentioned above.
7. National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination-
For Army wing of the NDA, the candidates holding the 12th class degree or equivalent are eligible to apply. For the Air Force and Navel Wings, the same eligibility goes, but with the subjects Physics and Mathematics as compulsory or equivalent. The students appearing in 12th Class are also eligible to apply for the same.
8. Combined Medical Services Examination-
The minimum eligibility criteria for the examination is the passing in the written and practical parts of the final MBBS Examination. The candidates appearing in the final examination are also eligible to appear in the examination.
9. Indian Statistical Service Examination-
The appearing in this examination requires the Post Graduate Degree in Statistics or Applied Statistics or Mathematical Statistics for the entry into the Indian Statistical Service. While the entry into the Indian Economic Service, requires the candidates to hold a Post Graduate Degree from a recognized university in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics
10. Section Officers or stenographers (Grade B/Grade 1) Departmental Competitive Examination-
For this examination, no specific eligibility criteria are required.
11. Assistant Commandant Examination-
Degree of a recognized University is the minimum eligibility criteria to appear in this examination. Both Male and female are eligible for the entry into the CISF and CRPF while for SSB, BSF and ITBP only male are eligible.
